About the Hawthorn Practice

The Hawthorn Practice is run by Dawn Ireland BSc (Hons) Herbal Medicine MURHP and the CPP. She has a BSc (Hons) in Herbal Medicine and is a member of the Unified Register of Herbal Practitioners and the College of Practitioners of Phytotherapy.

What's Available

Dawn offers consultations to people looking to improve their health, maintain wellness and treat illness using herbal medicine as an alternative more natural and gentle treatment, which can be in the form of liquid tincture medicine, herbal capsules or teas, and can often be used alongside orthodox medicine in many cases.

Private blood tests can be arranged at the clinic with a qualified phlebotomist. Please phone and discuss requirements before making an appointment.

The Hawthorn Practice is available by appointment at Castle Circus House in Torquay.

More About Dawn

Dawn trained for 4 years in Herbal Medicine in London gaining experience in the dermatology department of Whipps Cross Hospital, Middlesex University Archway Clinic, Westminster University Herbal Medicine Clinic and the University of East London Clinic. 

She continues to keep up to date with the latest findings on herbal medicine, attending seminars and lectures as well as keeping a connection with the plants she uses as medicine by making many of her own tinctures, creams and ointments. She has a diploma in advanced cosmetic science from Formula Botanica and undertook a study course with the University of Winchester in Plant Based Whole Food Nutrition and Nutrition and Lifestyle in Cancer Care, and has undertaken an online course with Chanchal Cabrera on Holistic Integrated Cancer Care.

Dawn takes herbal medicine trainees for clinic experience on the Betonica School of Herbal Medicine course, Heartwood Herbal Education and the Plant Medicine School. She has also written articles about herbal medicine related subjects, for magazines such as The Bushcraft MagazineReconnect, The Herbalist, and The Country Gardener.
